What's one thing most people don't know about you?
I played college football.
What does an average day look like for you?
As an HRBP, no two days are the same. My days are mostly spent in meetings talking to leaders, managers, and employees about a wide range of employee-related topics. I can go from a coaching conversation with an employee who is struggling to connect with his or her manager, to a presentation to a leadership team outlining key people data, to a conversation with a manager strategizing on how to retain a top performer. I am constantly partnering with managers and employees to ensure the people are aligned to help meet our goals as a business.
How does your role impact the People Ops mission of empowering people to do their best work?
In my role, I am really focused on empowering people to do their best work. I want to remove any blockers that slow a team or individual down from doing their best work.
How does HubSpot's culture help you do your best work?
Trust and autonomy is what allows me to do my best work. I know that I was hired for a reason and I am expected and trusted to add value in many ways. Knowing I am trusted by my manager and my stakeholders, I am relentlessly focused on solving problems and helping HubSpot grow better instead of being concerned about making mistakes and staying in my lane.
Anything else you want to add that candidates may want to know?
The Culture Code may seem too good to be true. I thought it was before I joined, but I can now say that HubSpot lives up to the values outlined in the Culture Code.
What's one thing most people don't know about you?
For someone who has to be in front of audiences all the time, public speaking still terrifies me!
What does an average day look like for you?
As part of the Learning & Development team, I help onboard and train our new hires in Customer Success specifically on consulting with our HubSpot customers in APAC. On a typical day, I'm facilitating anywhere from 2-4 training sessions and providing feedback for hands-on exercises. Outside training, I partner with my stakeholders from Customer Success to review learning gaps, new hire performance and content updates to name a few. I also coordinate with the broader L&D team to align on regional and global priorities when it comes to our foundational learning programs. On an ad-hoc basis, I also create and deliver training content outside of the usual new hire experience -- I conducted a CRM Consulting session with University students in support of Campus Recruiting in APAC while I also partnered with Customer Success Managers in Sydney to educate our own customers on employee onboarding and training best practices to double down on thought-leadership efforts in the region.
How does your role impact the People Ops mission of empowering people to do their best work?
I'd like to think that through our foundations programming, I'm able to help enrich our Customer Success employees with the knowledge and skills they need to best consult with our customers and in turn, help our customers realize value from HubSpot.
How does HubSpot's culture help you do your best work?
As a company, we index heavily on autonomy when it comes to work. This has certainly given me the proper headspace and environment when studying and solving for learning gaps. Finally, the strong feedback and collaboration culture helps me keep the content relevant to the business and improve my delivery for our learners.
Anything else you want to add that candidates may want to know?
A degree or background is helpful but not necessary to succeed in a place like HubSpot. Some of the best HubSpotters I know are from diverse backgrounds - a chemical engineer, a history major, a flight attendant and even a nurse!
What's one thing most people don't know about you?
I've just started training to break a 3hr marathon next year. My PB is 3:25.
What does an average day look like for you?
My mornings are my research time and are mostly spent searching for the next engineering leaders to join HubSpot (Yep - we're hiring!). You'll also find me leaning more about the HubSpot business on our internal wiki or going through new training classes on Learn @ HubSpot.
I spend most afternoons with the engineering leadership team to understand their hiring priorities and make sure my team is investing their time in the right places. At the pace we're growing at this is constantly evolving!
I'll be either on Zoom or in a Slack conversation with the recruiting teams in Dublin and Cambridge nerding out on funnel data and hiring metrics. Outside of recruiting, it's a great place to get Netflix recommendations, baby/dog/baby dog pics, or to invest in the meme economy.
Working with my People Ops partners in finance, HR, and L&D on headcount planning, retention and onboarding. There have been days where we've had over 60 people starting on the same morning!
You can also find me meeting with our Culture team to plan for our next Cracking Inclusion event.
How does your role impact People Ops mission of empowering people to do their best work?
I attract the engineers who build HubSpot to help our customers grow better.
How does HubSpot's culture help you do your best work?
I find running to be cathartic and great for problem solving. HubSpot's flexibility allows me to fit a run into my lunch breaks and make up for that time in the evenings.
We've learned a lot from other companies — about everything from inclusive interviewing to building an HR team. We try to pay it forward by sharing our ideas and insights, too.
